CCRA-NJ is excited to announce that we are instituting a new membership recruitment program!!

This new recruitment program is called the “Member-Get-A-Member” program. CCRA-NJ appreciates all the support you have provided to the organization over the years and also realizes that you are uniquely qualified to help CCRA-NJ grow so we can continue to expand the services we offer our members. To put it simply more CCRA-NJ members means greater resources and that will help CCRA-NJ remain a resource for you.

The program is very simple and will also provide you a way to save money on CCRA-NJ membership and educational programs. For every new Reporter member that you recruit you will receive $25 CCRA-NJ “Bucks” that you can use to trade in to help reduce your membership or education costs for any CCRA-NJ programs. There is not a limit to the amount of “bucks” that you can accumulate so there is a possibility that you could fund your membership and March and/or October conference registrations through this program. CCRA-NJ “Bucks” are not transferable.

If you are not a current member of CCRA-NJ this is a great time to join. By joining before the Annual Convention that takes place on March 11 and 12, 2016 you can attend the convention at the member rate. By joining CCRA-NJ you are also supporting the ONLY association that is here to help protect the interest of the Court Reporter in the State of New Jersey.

Stenographers get pulled out of the background and into the limelight during NCAA’s March Madness Tournament

It’s happened to every stenographer/court reporter...a curious witness, attorney, spouse, even our children. At some point in every stenographer’s career, we find ourselves being questioned about how it is we do what we do.

For the stenographers at the NCAA March Madness Basketball tournament, this question was put on the national stage...and gave the profession more recognition than we’ve ever been told we could have...or perhaps ever wanted.

After Wisconsin’s opening Round of 64 win, three of Wisconsin’s top players, Nigel Hayes, Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker, huddled around the stenographer, asking questions and even touching her machine to see what it would produce. To say they were intrigued is an understatement. At their next press conference, when sophomore Nigel Hayes was posed a question, his response was not for the media, but for the stenographer.

“Before I answer that question, I would like to say a few words: cattywampus, onomatopoeia and antidisestablishmentarianism. (Laughs) . Now, back to your question.”

A later presser had the tables turned, as Hayes was caught with his mic on when saying, “Gosh, she’s beautiful, ” presumably about that day’s stenographer. But the embarrassment didn’t stop Hayes, as his big-word antics continued, and before the Final Four game, Hayes came out with the following statement: “Sticking to tradition, prestidigitation and hello, Mr. Stenographer...”
