Cheryl attended Orange County College of Court Reporting. She received her certification as a Certified Court Reporter in 1981, and Registered Professional Reporter in 1982. In 1981, she went to work for Lane County Courthouse in Eugene, Oregon, where she served as official court reporter to the Hon. William A. Beckett, judge of the Circuit Court. During that time, she was active in the Oregon Court Reporters Association, eventually holding the position of president. She sat on the legislative committee for OCRA and eventually met monthly with the chief justice and state court administrator and two other reporters to advocate for reporter needs in the State of Oregon. In 1991 she moved to the island of St. Croix, USVI, where she reported for twenty-three years. Home to the HOVENSA refinery, she worked with top litigators in the U.S. and throughout the world reporting in complex mass tort litigation, personal injury, and employment law. She returned to Oregon in 2014, and established Willamette Valley Court Reporting in Lebanon, Oregon.
