David Roberts has been immersed in the court reporting culture his entire life. He joined the company almost 15 years ago as AWR’s In-house Legal Videographer and went on to graduate Cum Laude from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Management and Court Reporting degree. He was selected by Northwood University as a Who’s Who recipient his senior year.
David earned the National Court Reporters Association’s Certified Manager of Reporting Services certification in 2002 and is currently a Certified Realtime Reporter and Certified Legal Videography Specialist.
After over a decade in the legal industry, David saw a need for lawyers to create visually compelling cases for judges and juries that included graphics and trial technology. He established AWR’s sister company, AWR Trial Solutions, to assist lawyers with their trial presentation needs – from courtroom setup to sophisticated and compelling legal presentations. Under his direction, AWR Trial Solutions remains in the forefront of emerging trial technology and legal graphics and timelines.
David is a member of the Society for the Technological Advancement of Reporting and the National Court Reporters Association. He lives in Mt. Pleasant with his seven-year-old daughter Madison and dogs Rusty and Roscoe. When not in the office, he can be found on the golf course or mastering the art of cooking on his grill.
I attended the Reporting Academy of Virginia in Va Beach, VA and have been reporting for 22 years, since I took my first job on Hilton Head Island, SC in 1992. Since then, I’ve worked in Florida, Pennsylvania and Delaware. For the past ten years, I’ve focused on realtime reporting and have really enjoyed and embraced all of the technological advances that are making our profession so much more rewarding and challenging.
I live in Blythewood, SC, with my husband and two boys, who are 8 and 10 years old.I am the mom of a travel baseball player and a soccer player, so I’m pretty busy on the weekends. When I’m not watching baseball or soccer, I really enjoy gardening, sitting on the porch, grilling, volunteering at or church and in the community. I also love yoga.
I love the profession of court reporting and I want us to embrace the changing climate of court reporting, not fear it, but use it to our advantage, and make the best of it!To do that, we’ve got to challenge our thinking daily and be open to change.
My name is Kelly Ball. I’m a freelance court reporter in the Hilton Head Island area. I was born and raised in the small town of Valparaiso, Indiana. I graduated from the College of Court Reporting in Hobart, Indiana in 2007 and picked up and moved to Bluffton, South Carolina upon graduating. Needless to say it has been a whirlwind. I’m getting married in September to my best friend Jesse who works as a personal trainer. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family and, of course, my dog Pepper.
For my second career, I began court reporting with Judy Comp and Associates in Greenville, SC, in late ’80s. After a couple of years, I went back to marketing/advertising industry for about six years.
In the mid ’90s I decided I really enjoyed the reporting industry and started reporting for Cannon Court Reporting in Greenville, SC. In 2010, my husband took a job in Charlotte, NC, and I started working with Dallas Reporting in Rock Hill, SC, doing overflow work and continuing to work for Cannon in Greenville, SC.
In late 2012, I was able to go full-time with Dallas while continuing to work overflow for Cannon Court Reporting and Freelance.
Mimi got the court reporting bug in 1975 typing deposition transcripts, and was hooked. She then began taking depositions in shorthand and transcribing them with an electric typewriter and carbon paper! She self-trained herself on the Stenomask so she could put away the steno pads and pens, received her Certificate of Merit-Master, and in 2005 was awarded the Professionalism Award by the National Verbatim Reporters Association. In 1986, Gallagher Court Reporting was founded in Greenville, South Carolina, and has recently partnered with EveryWord, Inc.
